Okay so while we have a min and the birthing story is fresh on our minds we'll journal it all:
In the words of jack bauer "the following takes place between..." 5am & 10:37am Feb 4th 2010
5am:Arrive at hospital, fill out paperwork, & get checked into our room at Orem Community Hospital
6am: Rachel is started on Pitocin (lowest dose)
7am: The most AMAZING anesthesiologist gives Rachel the epidural.
8am: Rachel progressed from 3 cm to 4 cm. Baby is not liking the Pitocin so they cut the dose in HALF
8:30am: Dr Weibell checks Rachel & she's still at 4cm. He then breaks Rachel's water. He predicts she'll grow a cm an hour from here on out.
9:50am: The monitor on Rachel's belly moves so we call the nurse in to get it in the right spot. The Nurse says, "Well, why dont I go ahead and check you while I'm here". She checks to see how dilated Rachel is and her face goes into shock! She says "it feels like your complete! like you're a 10!" So she runs and grabs another nurse to check & sure enough she's fully dilated! (Keep in mind that this is with HALF the dosage of Pitocin they started out with!) The Nurses call the Dr and he said to let her rest and descend for an hour (the baby was a -1 station) & then she'd start pushing in an hour
10:15am: Rachel feels some pressure and calls the Nurse in. The Nurse checks her and the baby is crowning! Then came the Chaos! Everyone ran into the room. Our Dr was at the clinic & there was no Dr in the building. They grabbed a nurse that has delivery experience and they told Rachel not to push, laugh or move a muscle or he was gonna come right out. They kept saying "There's no way Dr Weibell will get here on time".
10: 30am: Dr Weibell runs into the room after breaking every traffic law on the way. Rachel was SO happy to see him. He sat down and 3 pushes later at 10:37 am Corbin joined us in the world!
Talk about crazy! This kid was ready and eager to get here. He's so much like his Mom, very impatient :)
but we love him so much for it!
The post below has some more pictures of our cute little guy.
